Install OpenVPN on Linux

1. Install

Open a Terminal ( CTRL + ALT + T on Ubuntu) then type :

Update repositories and dependencies:

sudo apt-get update


sudo apt-get upgrade

Install OpenVPN binaries:

sudo apt-get install openvpn

2. Configure

After downloading a configuration file (see Quick Start Guide), open it with a text editor as gedit or kate if you want to change default parameters.

Important Note: Some parameters are controlled by the remote VPN server and your custom client's values will be overriden during connection.

3. Use

Open a Terminal ( CTRL + ALT + T on Ubuntu) then type:

sudo openvpn configuration.ovpn

You will be prompted for your username and password. Username is your Token number. Password is your VPN Pass indicated on your account panel.

When the connection process if finished, it should be indicated with the phrase 'Initialization Sequence Completed' and you SHOULD leave the Terminal window running in the background or you will leave the VPN server.
